Marlo and Darel's engagement session

First session of the year!! We headed downtown to shoot on New Years Day and what better way to ring in the new year than by doing something I love. Marlo and Darel did a great job of being themselves and having fun with it. I may have tired them out by dragging them all over downtown, but I think it was worth it, right?? Thanks for being so fun to hang out with!

To see the rest of the images, go to my website http://www.karellephotography.com/ and click on 'Portraits,' then 'Digital Studio' on the far right. From there, follow the instructions and look for "Marlo and Darel's engagement session." You'll see the images that are on my blog and the rest of the images.

I have no idea what was said here that was so funny, but I wish I knew.

365 - Week 2

Yea!! I didn't miss a day this week!

This is the 100 year old piano that I own. It needs to be refinished and cleaned up, but I think it has character. Can I play it? Not really. I played organ for several years growing up, but I'm useless on piano. But I'd like to change that this year. Not sure how yet. First goal: re-learn to read bass clef.

I pulled out my flute from under the bed this week and literally dusted it off so that I could play with the Houston Flute Club today for the first time. Thanks to my friend Ana for joining with me so that I can have a buddy in the group! It was the first time that I've played in seven years and it was very strange and intimidating to actually hear myself play and realize how loud I felt with everyone else. I'll get over it soon enough.

I read a snipet in an article about how having a plant in an office helps lift people's mood or something like that. So I picked up some flowers on my way home at the grocery store. They were pretty purple flowers and they make me smile. They still look good today.

Had a family session this afternoon with one of last year's clients and his family. This is the last shot of the day.

Dominique and Jonathan got married! This is a shot we did of Dominique in her beautiful dress designed by her.

I ALMOST didn't have a picture this day, but then I walked outside by chance and saw the moon - wow!!!!

Sarah and Sterling's wedding day

Another Ashley K wedding! Sarah and Sterling shared a beautiful day with friends and family in Willis, Texas at a quaint bed and breakfast. There's nothing better than a winter wedding out in the country! They are such a sweet couple and their love for each other showed throughout the whole day. Especially when Sterling saw Sarah for the first time as she walked down the aisle. I haven't seen a reaction like that in.....well, ever. It involved lots of smiling and thumbs up back to the seated guests.

A few shots from the ceremony: a wreath hanging over the aisle, two little boys watching the bride and groom walking out of the ceremony, a different kind of exit shot, the string quartet that played during the ceremony.

Details from the reception: Sarah's bouquet, bridal cake, groom's cake, and toasting glasses.

Ring shots!!!! You know me, I always have to have a ring shot.

A few moments during the toasts and musical presentations. I love how I caught three laughing expressions in a row!

Shots from the rest of the night: this little boy was cute as he looked at Sarah's dress, Soulja Boy!, and the grand finale!

Baby Anzick's Baptism

The Anzick family was excited to gather with friends and family to celebrate the baptism of their beautiful little girl. Take a look, she really is so adorable! Minus the small delay at the start, the afternoon went well and everyone had their chance to "ooh" and "aah" at little Anzick. And she kept herself entertained with her red shoe. Thanks for allowing us to be a part of the Little One's big day!

My new challenge for this year - 365

Ok, so we'll see how far I actually take this, but I'm challenging myself to take a picture a day. I don't want to just take a dumb shot just to fill the daily quota, but actually shoot something worthwhile.
We're only four days into the year and I've already missed a day, but it's ok, I'll give myself some grace. So I'm down from my project called "365", to "364."
I've decided that I'll post them on the blog at the beginning of the week (Sunday or Monday.) Readers, hold me to this. Don't let me get lazy on this one, ok? Thanks.

I shot an engagement session on the first day of the year and this one that I picked after scanning through very quickly.

Shot a wedding yesterday, and I also picked this one out after scanning through very quickly.

Because getting fresh air is healthy, this shot was taken while rollerblading this afternoon.
