Ok, I have a confession to make:
I forgot to take a picture last Monday! So I'm down a picture.
And another confession. I totally forgot a picture for yesterday, too! So I have two from Saturday to make up for yesterday.
Please forgive?
I hope to pick myself back up and keeping going.
This is the window in my bedroom. Blinds open, or blinds shut - take your pick. And yes, it's broken up at the top right.
Orbit gum may as well have a cult following. I know a few people that just LOVE the fun flavors. So whenever a new flavor comes out, I let a select few know as soon as I know. The new flavor now, Positively Pomegranate.
I was working on some cards to send out and had things stacked up and spread out.
Friday morning bible study at Rao's. Usually the hot chocolate has a bunch of whipped cream on top so it's more impressive, but this time it had kind of fizzled out.
Leaves on an overcast day.
Ok, I think this is pretty easy, but what is it? It might not even be worth asking what it is because it might be that easy.

Jodee and Ian's engagement session
I tell myself that I'm only going to pick a few pictures to post on the blog, but sometimes I can't help myself. I couldn't stop at just 20 of Jodee and Ian, it just wasn't possible.
Check them out in all their fun and cuteness. They were so much fun to work with and so wonderful to watch together. Leave them comments to let them know how much you love their pictures!
To see the rest of the images, go to my website http://www.karellephotography.com/ and click on 'Portraits,' then 'Digital Studio' on the far right. From there, follow the instructions and look for "Jodee and Ian's engagement session." You'll see the images that are on my blog and the rest of the images.

Thuy and Quoc's wedding day
A looooong day, but another great Ashley K Photography wedding. Check her site for more pictures from the same day. Thuy and Quoc are such a lovely couple and very sweet to each other and others around them. I enjoyed the day, especially learning more about the tea ceremony. Granted, I didn't understand a single word, but I still enjoyed being a part of it.
Some details from Thuy's outfit. Waaaaay cool shoes!
She's getting ready for the traditional tea ceremony in the morning and people are about to start arriving.
This is Max the beloved dog. They had a tux just for him and he was a champ. He let them put it on him and he did well with photographs.
The bride and groom, just minutes before seeing each other. Does he look happy or what??
These are a few shots from the tea ceremony including one of each of the grandmothers. In the first picture, Quoc is seeing his bride for the first time that day, kind of as if she'd walked down the aisle, but without the church and the pews and the priest, and you get it.
Quoc helps his brother (Best Man) get ready before the Catcholic ceremony. Thuy is ready to walk down the aisle with her father.
He looks like the happiest groom! He stole a glance at her.
A few details from the reception. They gathered at Kim Son in Sugarland (great food, by the way.)
Kids do the funniest things. And the last one is the garter toss.

365 - Week 3
Yeah, third week and staying strong!! I'll admit, some days are a little harder than others.
What is it??
This is the little lamp that sits on my desk. The story behind it: a few years ago, I participated in my friend's wedding and she bought each of us a gift for our home. I was given this lamp but at the time, I was finishing up college and didn't want to unpack it. So I kept it in the box and didn't know what happened to it for years. Just recently, I found it again, 5 years later. Now it sits on my desk and I have to turn it on before I start working. It's kind of like my version of a neon 'Open' sign.
My new books from Half Price books. G.C.s make for great gifts. I love puzzle games. Mental acuity, anyone?
A neat reflection I saw on the dresser.
I went out shooting on Friday and this is from that day. I've had a few shooting days and I'll be posting those images sometime in the near future.
She's a year old now!! That's the cutest hat.
This was shot today while I was driving. No, folks, I wasn't driving at this very moment, if you'll notice the red light that I'm sitting at. And actually, there's no law (yet) against driving and taking photographs, right?

My little guy, Deiner
Meet Deiner. He's the little guy that I support in Colombia through Compassion International. I started sponsoring a child late in 2004 and then that little boy's family moved so I was assigned Deiner. I originally received the first picture and then received an updated photograph of him last year. I try to write him letters as often as I can but I'm not the best writer and sometimes I don't know what to say (I need suggestions and ideas, thanks).
I'm hoping to meet him next year!!!!

Amburgey Family Session
Last Spring I did a senior portrait session for Brian and now we're meeting the rest of the family! They wanted to be sure to get this done while everyone was still in the same city so thankfully it worked out for us to do it. I'll admit that while I was editing through the pictures, I was laughing out loud remembering some of the shenanigans of the day. Boys will be boys.
Guys, thanks for having fun with it and for humoring me!
To see the rest of the images, go to my website http://www.karellephotography.com/ and click on 'Portraits,' then 'Digital Studio' on the far right. From there, follow the instructions and look for "Amburgey Family session." You'll see the images that are on my blog and the rest of the images.
The boys and the parents.
A few fun group shots.
I realize the first one in this series isn't technically perfect as I barely had a moment to catch what was going on in the background. Mom and Dad didn't even know what was going on when it started.
The boys, goofing around. Lesson learned: don't wear white socks to photo sessions. You'll get grief about it ;)
I love the light here!
So fun!!

Marlo and Darel's engagement session
First session of the year!! We headed downtown to shoot on New Years Day and what better way to ring in the new year than by doing something I love. Marlo and Darel did a great job of being themselves and having fun with it. I may have tired them out by dragging them all over downtown, but I think it was worth it, right?? Thanks for being so fun to hang out with!

I have no idea what was said here that was so funny, but I wish I knew.
Awww, so cute!

Love it!!

365 - Week 2
Yea!! I didn't miss a day this week!
This is the 100 year old piano that I own. It needs to be refinished and cleaned up, but I think it has character. Can I play it? Not really. I played organ for several years growing up, but I'm useless on piano. But I'd like to change that this year. Not sure how yet. First goal: re-learn to read bass clef.
I pulled out my flute from under the bed this week and literally dusted it off so that I could play with the Houston Flute Club today for the first time. Thanks to my friend Ana for joining with me so that I can have a buddy in the group! It was the first time that I've played in seven years and it was very strange and intimidating to actually hear myself play and realize how loud I felt with everyone else. I'll get over it soon enough.
I read a snipet in an article about how having a plant in an office helps lift people's mood or something like that. So I picked up some flowers on my way home at the grocery store. They were pretty purple flowers and they make me smile. They still look good today.
Had a family session this afternoon with one of last year's clients and his family. This is the last shot of the day.
Dominique and Jonathan got married! This is a shot we did of Dominique in her beautiful dress designed by her.
I ALMOST didn't have a picture this day, but then I walked outside by chance and saw the moon - wow!!!!
FUN engagement session!! Can't wait to look through all the pictures!
