Rebecca and Paul's wedding Part 1

Another wedding with Ashley K Photography and another beautiful wedding. I could talk about several things surrounding the day and the people and the details and such. But what I really wanted to talk about was Rebecca and Paul. So many times you can tell more about a person by the people they surround themselves with and by what these people say about them. I was truly touched during the toasts given by all of their five bridesmaids and five groomsmen. Have you ever seen an entire bridal party feel moved enough to speak about the couple? As if that weren't enough, the toasts were so genuine and heartfelt. Both the guys and girls speaking were moved to tears as they spoke. It was truly an amazing moment for me.
Thanks Rebecca and Paul for being such special people and for inspiring me to want to be a better person!

Where Have I been?

I've been housesitting this week and working hard, too. I have lots of sessions that I'm working hard to get out so if you're waiting, I promise I'm getting close to finishing.

I walked into the grocery store the other day and noticed that they are moving things around......again. I like knowing where things are when I walk in so now I'll have to re-acquaint myself with the store.

Tonight, a few photographers in the area got together just to hang out. It was a great time to sit around and talk shop or just talk nonsense. Afterwards, some of us wanted to just hang out some more so we all tried driving over to a Starbucks. I ended up missing the entrance into the shopping center so everyone followed me into a private drive just past the strip center. We pulled in there and discussed where we were going to go at that point. Long story short, we ended up staying there to talk. The party ended when a cop showed up with flashing lights and started collecting our IDs and calling in our license plates. We were detained for a few more minutes while he lectured us about obstructing traffic on a private drive, parking on a private drive, etc. Good grief!
On the other hand, I can totally respect the job that police officers do. When they arrive at a situation, they have no idea what's going on or that we're not really trouble makers or how dangerous things can be. He lectured us and we got to leave.
On my way home, I pulled over very quickly because a large spider was crawling around on my windshield, inside. I don't know what it is about spiders in the spring, but I always have at least one right before the summer comes. Hopefully this is the only one.

Little Lydia

Newborns are always such precious little subjects to photograph. They're so cute while they're sleeping and trying to move around. And their little toes and fingers are just so tiny. They're also unpredictable, like Lydia. Most parents want their baby to sleep and look so peaceful during their first photo shoot, but I think Lydia knew that and wasn't going to play their game. In the end, she won. We were still able to get plenty great shots of her, even if it was her against us :)

I wouldn't say this is one of my favorites because I'm not trying to take a picture of her crying, but it's interesting to me how you can "hear" her through a photograph.

Vanessa and Ray's family session

If you could imagine the most perfect day in Houston of the whole year, that was the day we shot some portraits for Vanessa and Ray's family. The wind was blowing, the temperature was perfect. We met at a park in Cypress, then went out to a field to finish up the session and let the kids run and play. The kids were full of energy so we let them play, then shoot a few shots, make them fun, then let them play again. Thanks Vanessa and Ray for being so easy going!

Texas School

My week at Texas School is coming to an end tomorrow. It's late and I shouldn't be on the computer at this hour (anymore), but I also just wanted to let you know that my outgoing emails aren't going 'out.' Very frustrating right now!
