Rivers siblings session

I met up with this brother and sister pair to do a photo shoot that is being done as a surprise for their father - what a neat idea! A family friend had contacted me and arranged everything. When these siblings showed up, we had an easy-going session and just walked around and explored the area. Seriously, they were so easy-going! It made my job so easy.

Beaumont - Klosterboer family mini-session

You can't tell that it started raining during this session because they were troopers and we kept pushing forward. And I loved the addition of Khaki, the family dog - she's such a good dog!

If you'll notice, Dad is doing a great job of holding the pose even while a horse licks his hand. I might have to admit that I may or may have not continued to take a few extra shots just to see if he'd budge......

Beaumont - Goodman family mini-session

I'd like to think that the Goodman's drove all the way from Oklahoma just to have their picture taken by me, but I'm thinking there were other motivating factors for their visit, like family and Thanksgiving and other wonderful things. Oh well. One of my favorite pictures of the day is the last one in this series because the jump feels so real in the picture.

Schubring Family Part 2

Here are the last few from the rest of the session I did with the Schubring family. They brought a change of clothes and they were smokin'! And little Schubring's outfit was the most adorable thing I've seen!

Some of you might remember a goal that I set out to accomplish in 2008, which was to take a picture with whoever I'm photographing in each session. I started the year off weak, then I started remembering to do it more, then I just totally forgot for a while. Then I remembered again recently and I did accomplish it during this session. But then I forgot again. I'm not giving up yet! Maybe 2009 will be better. And maybe I could one day look half as good as these folks did during their session *sigh*

For real, this little guy is a real man's man. He liked the train, the wheels, and the train tracks and was less interested in walking down the tracks while flying.

Baby Kelley's 1 year session (almost)

Heeee's baa-aaack!! This little guy makes his photographic presence on my blog again because he's just so darn cute! I went to the hospital the day after he was born (I wasn't blogging back then), then his 3 month session, his 6 month session, his 9 month session, and now his 1 year old session (actually more like 13 and a half months).
We finally met up and started off shooting at a park and then headed over to the art museum area to finish off. He was so happy and happy-go-lucky the whole time so it made my job waaaaay easier. And he's so darn cute! Did I already say that? I'll miss seeing him every three months, but alas, they must grow up.

I can't even begin to describe what his parents were doing in order to get these laughs and smiles. I wish I'd had a video camera on the side.

This idea came up around his 6 month session to have him photographed with Dad's high school letter jacket. So cute!!









And we had a birthday cake for him! These are so fun!

The Hoffman family

I was called to shoot a family session for the Hoffman's and somehow we picked the windiest day of the year to shoot on. And at one moment, rain threatened to shut us down. But we prevailed and we were able to finish our session.

I had just heard something the week before the session about what photography was like back in the 1940's or 30's or so. For obvious reasons, photography was more of a rare thing so people would line up to have a family session whenever a photographer would come through town. On this occasion, they would only get one shot so they didn't have the luxury of making every combination known to man (mother with children, father with children, just the children, father and mother, the sisters, etc.) So, they would take a picture of the whole family in front of the house with the dogs. I think that might be were we came up with the phrase "everyone and their dog", but I can't confirm that. So, with this in mind, I wanted to take a few shots reminiscent of those families of the 1940's.
