I had a few 'DUH" moments yesterday.
I can't remember all of them, but here are a few.
*I was at Costco picking up a few things and I proceeded to the check out line. When I got there, I unloaded my items on the belt behind the people's stuff in front of me. The cashier attendant was pleasantly talking to the customers in front of me as I unloaded my stuff and I pushed my cart forward and to the left to continue with the line. Sternly, she said, "Ma'am, the cart goes to the right." Oh, you mean, like where the arrow is pointing for carts to go? Yes, that's what she meant. DUH.
*I then headed over to Bed Bath and Beyond to pick up a few things and I was particularly looking for kitchen towels. At the point that I decided to look for the towels, I was at the back right part of the store. So I pushed my cart all across the back side of the store to the left side, and then around to the front. Found the bathroom towels. Kitchen towels.....? No. I asked someone that works there, and he walked me all the way back to...................the back right part of the store. Exactly where I'd started thinking of looking for them. DUH.
*Same store, I went to pay for my items. I used my debit card and swiped it through the machine. Didn't work. Hmmm........what's the problem? The attendant looks at me and says, "You swiped it backwards." *sigh* Thanks. Oh, you mean, I should swipe it like the little picture shows?? Sometimes it's one way, sometimes it's the other. DUH
*Same afternoon, but now I'm at Office Depot in my long string of errands. I'm paying (wow, almost all these involve the moment I have to pay for my items - maybe that's a hint). I swiped my card, and I know I did it the right way. Now, we're both just sitting there, and I'm waiting and I'm staring at the attendant, waiting for her to do whatever she needs to do to finish my transaction. And she's looking at me............waiting for me to hit "OK." DUH
*Finally, back in my car. But I'm so tired of smelling car-ish fumes, gas or oil, maybe? Not sure. But dang, why does my care all of a sudden smell like this? It's like I'm sitting on my hood with my nose to the hood crack. So weird. Hmm......why does my AC say that it's bringing in air from the outside? Which also means it brings in those smells during rush hour............. DUH. And yes, I know that it's 'Fresh Air,' but not during rush hour.
Back to your regularly scheduled DUH-full days............

Thursday thoughts
Yes, I'm still here. I realize I've been kind of absent in the past few weeks. I've had so much going on and I'm trying to get things done on time so the blog kind of takes a backseat, sorry. But I did want to drop in real quick for a few things.
It's been a long week already. I'm housesitting for some friends, and also pet-sitting for them. And on top of that, they are selling their house so realtors are calling to stop by on occasion. I was also on call for NILMDTS two days earlier this week.
I wanted to share my NILMDTS experiences again because it's not an easy thing and it helps to spread the word for anyone else that may go through an experience like this.
I ended up getting two calls for Tuesday at different hospitals. The morning session was a sweet session because the parents were keeping up their spirits to enjoy the time they had with their baby until that afternoon. We did a few shots with the baby, twin sister, and their parents, and then we took a few shots of the two girls together in the same bed. They are beautiful little girls with little charm bracelets and necklaces.
In the afternoon, I received another call for a baby that passed away unexpectedly. It was a difficult session because it was so sudden and the father had to be called at work. Watching him with the baby just ripped at my heart. While I was still in the room, I was given notice of another baby that suddenly passed away. So I hung around to see what the parent's decided about pictures being taken. We ended up staying and again, it's so hard to watch the father break down crying. The mother wasn't present because she was at a different hospital, so we photographed the baby alone for the parents. And I've just been informed that two of the families are having services this weekend for their babies. That's one of the things about this service: it doesn't end for me the day of the session. I still have work to do afterwards and then I still keep their memory with me even after that.
Earlier, I mentioned that realtors call to let me know the house will be showing at a particular time. Sometimes I have more notice than other times, and sometimes I have 20 mins. to leave everything nice and clean. A few times, I've had to leave kind of quickly and I didn't have anywhere to put things that were out of place. The dishwasher had clean dishes and the sink was already nice and dry so I didn't know what to do with the dirty dish, spoon, and glass that I had. I was telling my friend Susan about the situation and I didn't think anything was weird about what I was doing until she started laughing and couldn't stop. It really hadn't hit me how absurd it was what I was doing. I started throwing things into the refrigerator while I was gone. You can't throw it into the pantry because interested buyers will look in the pantry to see how big it is, but it's not necessary to look into the regrigerator. I promise there was logic behind my actions, not just an early onset of Alzheimer's.

Thursday Thoughts
While it's still called today...........
A storm passed through town today and knocked out my electricty for a good portion of the day and in other areas of Houston. So what do you do when you don't have electricity and you can't work on your computer? Heavens!!
I played around with my friend's itouch last night.......nice......... I haven't wanted to get an iphone because I didn't want to change my phone number and I didn't want to break my current contract. But the itouch would be nice...........
Oh, so a friend called me this week to let me know that my contact section on my blog doesn't work. I mean, seriously, are you kidding me??? How long has it been that way? So, if you have tried to contact me through my weddings site, and for some reason you stuck around to read my blog, well, you'll be happy to know now that it has been fixed. Sheesh.......
This is my second weekend in a row of shooting two weddings. Then I'll have another two next weekend, too. Fun!! That's my Fourth of July holiday.
I need some serious Quickbooks help. And/or general "putting business in good accounting order" help. At least, I think that's what I need. I don't even know what it is that I need. Help?
I've just discovered the task list in Outlook, thanks to Susan. Wow, this thing will change my world! I'm such a list maker and this feature is right up my alley.
Yes, Kelli, to affirm the thought, you SHOULD get the Coldplay cd. It rocks!
And boy, howdy! I have a new obsession: Icebreakers Sours. I really like the Berry Splash Strawberry Raspberry Lemonade variety, and also the Pink Lemonade Apple Tangerine Watermelon variety. You gotta try 'em.
